Lol. You watch the movie at all??? Jenny is his sister. There was systemic anti semitism in the university elite back then and many will argue there still is. Iiddle did pull out of the 100 for the reason stated and.the date of the race was not changed. He ran a different event after Lindsey withdrew. And amazingly won, setting a world record that stood a couple decades. It's a.beautiful movie beautifully told. 2 men running for opposing reasons.but equally driven. Loved it since the day it came out

Really great crime film. I was in the mood to watch a movie a few months ago & the film that stood out that I had in my collection that I hadn't seen was Heat. Despite it been 3 hours long, I was locked in and mesmerized by how good it really was and how it lived up to the hype. Even before the two iconic scenes in the diner scene & bank robbery shootout, it was really engaging seeing these characters go through the struggles in their lives & planning things for this final heist that as we all know goes wrong. De Niro & Pacino are really great and no doubt the standouts, however the entire cast deserves credit. Mann was in serious top form. Something I remember is that apparently this is a remake of an earlier script Mann worked on in the 80s that became a TV movie in 1987. Really awesome seeing get a second chance to make it work. I'm having a tough time deciding which film I prefer more, Heat or Collateral, however they're both amazing crime films. You could tell by watching this how it inspired Christopher Nolan in films like Insomnia, The Dark Knight & Inception. Glad I now have Heat on Blu Ray.

So, I realize this is pretty late for this party. I mean, you reviewed it five years ago. However, I have something to say that I've said on other reviews of GWTW which may help clarify some things. I deeply questioned years ago why I enjoyed this film so much. I don't agree with it's sanitized and brainwashed approach to slavery. I don't think the Old South was a thing to celebrate, for the most part. (Things to celebrate, amazing food, amazing music, really amazing manners and politeness. Things not to celebrate, slavery and oppression of women). However, after some thought, I then saw an interesting pattern in films with lead female characters. which, once seen, can't be unseen. We are, as a culture, very conditioned to still see female characters as "good or bad". I think this is a deeply rooted trope, a modern day version of the classic Victorian era "virgin/whore" roles for women. Even now, we have a hard time accepting the third choice for a female character, that of an antihero. We don't really mind a secondary female character who's an antihero, although those are also rare, but a LEAD FEMALE? Nope, so very few. I can only think of one other besides Scarlett. That would be Beatrice Kiddo in Kill Bill. However, Kiddo was out for revenge due to her love for her child. That's somewhat noble. Scarlett wants to survive, and help her family survive, and she wants a guy she has convinced herself she's in love with. Pretty basic and essential goals, and not done from a noble p.o.v., but just from a "Screw it, they can't beat me!" kind of mentality. We're used to Tony Soprano and Don Corleone doing what needs to be done to ensure the survival of their family, etc. We are used to seeing Walter White do the same. We can probably sit here and make a big list of male, lead, antihero characters in TV and Film. But for whatever reason, female leads are almost always portrayed as good people in the end. Even when they seem bad, they almost always have a change of heart by the end of the story. They are not allowed to be as petty and flawed as many actual women are, and still be the lead, main character. This really throws people about Scarlett. Also, I honestly think this is the deep down key as to why this film has been so popular through the years. As melodramatic and soap-opera-ish as this film is always accused of being, Scarlett is a pretty realistic character. She has no high ideals, she's just trying to get what she wants. Also, people tend to forget about the culture of the South when it came to women. Women had almost no options besides marriage to make a living. It was a time when you could ruin your life as a woman if you ruined your reputation, which was not that hard to do, and it was a time when women were taught to be helpless and weak as attractive virtues. I see the second half of the film as an echo of the first half. The first half is about the defeat of the South. The second half is about the defeat of Scarlett, in spite of all her efforts, just like the South.

@@CalebWatchesMovies THE JACKET is heavily loaded in the dark practice of creating, inducing and recalling trauma-trained monarch multiples. MK-ULTRA is a generalised ball park labelling for such horrific practices under the guise of treat-ment. The usage of a coroner's (cadaver's) drawer is for the purpose of sensory deprivation and a deeper induction of touchless torture. The film is extremely generous with its brazenly displayed offerings... but nothing for the uninitiated... so you saw nothing. Again, there's so much hiding in plain sight in this movie that you have most certainly not reviewed - simply because you didn't know what you were looking at nor listening to. Also, just like POOR THINGS, THE JACKET guises a sexual relationship between an adult and child. Sorry for my (admittedly) childish initial comment. Safe travels in this Mickey Mouse (DeMolay) world of poor yet devastatingly affective programming techniques that are keep the masses docile on every conceivable (and inconceivable) level. Kind regards, Den

I'm here in 2024 to nominate this movie as a "perfect movie". We are debating it this week. I think it has a sympathetic protagonist, a capable damsel, a debonaire King Arthur. Great battles, special effects. Great pacing and a menacing villain. Also, King Arthur's triumphant scene kind of rhymes with what we witnessed in Pennsylvania last week. I give it a 9.5 out of 10

The pretty girl in this movie is sooooo boring. She has a brother, wants to explore the ocean... that's it! Nothing else is interresting, cute or funny about her. The girl always acted though but can't fight or defend herself, it makes her boring and annoying. Wow, i didn't knew it was possible 😂 At least, the action is fun and the costumes are nice. It's good but i'm not sure it would be enough to make me like the movie. I never saw Van helsing, don't think i will see it.

That was adorable 🥰 Kate didn't do much for him though. She only puts him as an actor so she can keep her job. The girl NEVER thinked what could make him happy. It's my only issue with the movie, the rest was great!
